Building a better board: Northeast Ohio companies' leadership groups are dominated by men

The average board has just one female director — or 1.24 to be exact, according to the most recent proxy statements filed by all 59 of Northeast Ohio's public companies. That average board has about eight male members. Thus, women hold 13% of all public company board seats in the region. Not a huge percentage, but it's right in line with the average for the U.S. companies that make up the Russell 3000 Index.
