Cleveland startup Scout RFP raises $2.75 million in seed financing

January 27, 2015 The round was led by venture capital firm New Enterprise Associates and includes Google Ventures and Zapis Capital. Scout RFP, which describes itself as a 'cloud-based sourcing platform,' says the money will be used to grow the company's engineering team and scale its software product for customers.

Cliffs Natural Resources Inc. seeks creditor protection for Bloom Lake iron ore mine

January 27, 2015 Cleveland-based Cliffs said that Bloom Lake General Partner Ltd. and its affiliates, including Cliffs Quebec Iron Mining, have launched restructuring proceedings in Montreal under the Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act (CCAA) of Canada.

Registration now open for VeloSano ride

January 27, 2015 Registration is open for VeloSano, the annual cycling event the Cleveland Clinic kicked off last year to raise money for cancer research. Last year's ride included 800 cyclists from 21 states. They covered more than 49,000 miles and raised more than $1.95 million for the Clinic's cancer research.

National Association of College Stores invests $1 million for minority share in Chicago-based startup RedShelf

January 27, 2015 The supplier of digital learning materials and eTextbooks said it will use the funding it raised from NACS and previous investors 'to launch new features and products, improve upon the existing platform, and support new relationships with both publishers and educational institutions.'
